MHCA announces... Projector Fund
On September 9, 2013, MHCA purchased a new Sony digital SRX – R515 projector to replace the obsolete film projector at its new home. The cost of entry into today’s world of cinema… $63,701.00. This expense included not only the machine and all its attendant parts, but also the necessary electrical and sound upgrades and a new viewing port. The exquisite picture and sound quality were well-received by theatre goers at the ITV Festival, which MHCA hosted this past September.
Although a necessary expense for the new cinema endeavor at MHCA, the figure is substantial for a small organization. The Projector Fund was launched in July of 2013 with the goal to pay down the full cost of going digital. In February of 2014, a donor offered to make a very sizable donation ($350,000) towards converting the present triplex theatre into a multi-purpose arts center complete with a stage for live performances. The offer was contingent on the community’s resolve to pay down the debt of the projector within a year.
Please help MHCA achieve the goal set by this large donor for the benefit of the arts in the community. Those donors who contribute $300 to the Projector Fund will have their names added to a plaque that will be permanently and prominently displayed in the theatre for all time.
